Mission Statement
For
Birmingham Area WOCN

     The Birmingham Area Wound, Ostomy,and Continence Nurses’ Association is a non profit organization composed of professional nurses that share a mission to strengthen and foster commitment to the ideals and purposes of the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence profession.

Purpose

     The purposes of the Birmingham Area WOCN are as follow:

1. To promote high clinical standards for clients under the care of the WOCN.
2. To promote and provide for educational opportunities for healthcare professional and the public.
3. To encourage creative work in the care of clients, and in the preparation and dissemination of WOC education materials.
4. To recognize and foster leadership qualities.
5. To support work of the local and national organizations which contribute in caring for clients of the WOCN profession.
6. To educate the public on the WOCN profession and the care of the WOCN client.
7. To sponsor ostomy youth to Youth Camp and other activities.
